August 1, 2025

The Nippon Badminton has translated Shuttle Time University Course to Japanese, making it available to local universities in Japan.

With the goal of educating a higher number of PE teachers to teach badminton in schools, the course was presented as a useful tool to increase badminton participation. It has been designed to offer international certification to trainee teachers, while providing the knowledge and support required to deliver fun, safe and enjoyable badminton lessons to groups of children aged 5-15.

The Shuttle Time University Course covers both theory and practical work and is delivered in a modular format. The course was developed in consultation with university lecturers and PE specialists, and can be broken down into 10 modules which all link to the Shuttle Time Teachers Manual and Lesson Plans. The course is suitable for university and college students undertaking teaching, PE and sports-related courses.

The Shuttle Time University Course had grown in popularity in the Pan Am, Europe and Asia region with 145 courses delivered and 4,072 students educated.

Until now, 80 universities have received a BWF Shuttle Time University accredited certification (link). Duration of the course is flexible and can be delivered in a variety of formats to suit the needs of the university, lecturers and students.

Currently the BWF Shuttle Time University Course resources are available in five languages: English, Spanish, German, Arabic and Japanese. It is free to download online by universities and colleges who express their interest in delivering the course to students.
