The Badminton World Federation (BWF) is proud to launch Shuttle Time Senior, a dedicated programme designed to support active, healthy ageing through badminton. Developed in partnership with Coventry University, the programme helps adults aged 60 and above enjoy the physical, social and mental benefits of badminton — regardless of prior playing experience.
Shuttle Time Senior builds on the global success of the Shuttle Time programme and reflects BWF’s Badminton for Life philosophy. With newly launched free resources, organisations and instructors can now easily deliver safe, inclusive and enjoyable badminton sessions for older adults.
Why Shuttle Time Senior?
Badminton is uniquely suited to active ageing. It is low‑impact, adaptable, inclusive and naturally social, making it ideal for mixed abilities and fitness levels. Shuttle Time Senior supports:
- Improved balance, coordination and mobility
- Enhanced mental wellbeing and social connection
- Regular lifelong physical activity
- Alignment with the WHO Guidelines on Physical Activity and the UN Decade of Healthy Ageing
Programme Overview
Shuttle Time Senior is a structured yet flexible programme built around adapted badminton activities and an easy‑to‑follow 8‑session framework. Sessions can be tailored to a wide range of settings, including clubs, community centres, care homes, rehabilitation centres, corporates, NGOs and BWF Member Associations.
