The implementation of a Shuttle Time programme in Mongolia is expected to kickstart long-term development at multiple levels in the region.
Rolled out in June-July last year, the programme consisted of Shuttle Time training sessions by certified coaches in schools and community centres, and ensuring constant engagement through events and social media.
The target group had a broad range of participants aged 18-50, and included students, sports enthusiasts and the general public.
The programme aimed to develop sustainable interest in badminton by engaging different communities through structured training sessions. With support from local authorities and sports organisations, the activity aimed at providing a platform for skill development and long-term participation in the sport.
Of particular importance was the promotion of badminton as a sustainable sport in Mongolia, to improve the overall fitness and wellbeing of participants, creating opportunities for social interaction and teamwork, and to identify potential talent for competitive badminton.
T Uuganbayar, Shuttle Time National Coordinator of Mongolia, affirmed his belief in the efficacy of the programme: “Shuttle Time is an excellent initiative that brings people of all ages together through sport. It enhances physical activity while fostering a sense of community and sportsmanship.”
