Uzbekistan targets more other sport coaches

June 10, 2022

Uzbekistan Badminton Federation (UBF) has been introducing coaches from other sports to badminton via Shuttle Time to promote it to a wider group.

Aimed at increasing the level of badminton knowledge among coaches who will work with schoolchildren unexposed to badminton, a few Shuttle Time programmes have again been planned for June and November 2022 in the city of Andijan.

Numbers from the preregistration are encouraging, with 55 coaches – almost half of the targeted 120 – from another sport already on board. UBF is looking at attracting coaches from indoor sports like volleyball and table tennis.

In previous such programmes, the coaches were interested with the simple way of explaining badminton lessons, its ease of perception and understanding. In 2018, 100 new coaches were certified and their feedback was positive as they found the course useful for their coaching situation.

Shuttle Time Uzbekistan was launched in 2015 and the Shuttle Time Teachers Course (free of charge) has been delivered to more than 600 coaches. In total, more than 800 coaches have participated in Shuttle Time programmes delivered in all of Uzbekistan’s main cities.
