From Rackets to Smiles: Empowering Every Child to Play, Learn, and Shine Through Badminton
In the southern regions of Senegal – Lycee Djibabo De Ziguinchor, nearly 400 km from the capital, the spirit of inclusion took flight with the federation’s philosophy—”Badminton for ALL.” Through the Shuttle Time programme, a transformative event brought together over 30 trained teachers and more than 50 children, many with intellectual disabilities, to experience the joy of badminton. Locally-made equipment like nets, shuttlecocks, and poles highlighted the resourcefulness and commitment to the sport. For a child with a physical or mental handicap, picking up a racket became a symbol of empowerment and belonging. This milestone event, supported by a partnership with Special Olympics Senegal, showcases how badminton can break barriers, unite communities, and inspire smiles in every corner of the world.
