Winners of the Shuttle Time Photo of the Year 2024

BWF launched the first Shuttle Time Photo of the Year in September 2024, we have received numerous applications from Member Associations implementing Shuttle Time globally, in a creative, inclusive and fun ways to children, students, adults and more. Thank you for your support!

After reviewing the applications, we are pleased to announce two winners of the Shuttle Time Photo of the Year 2024: Bulgaria & Senegal. Both Member Associations’ submissions fulfilled all the winning criteria, resulting in an extremely close and challenging decision. Therefore both Bulgaria and Senegal were chosen as winners of the inaugural Shuttle Time Photo of the Year.

Both winners will receive their prizes at the BWF AGM 2025 in Xiamen, China.

In the heart of Vazrazhdane Park, Sofia, the Bulgarian Badminton Federation showcased the true spirit of inclusion with a vibrant badminton demonstration for deaf children. This inspiring event celebrated diversity and empowered children by creating a space where abilities shine brighter than limitations. Guided by the Shuttle Time programme, the activity highlighted the joy of badminton for everyone. By embracing the power of sport, the Federation continues to break barriers, proving that badminton is a game for all—uniting communities and fostering a world where no one is left out.

From Rackets to Smiles: Empowering Every Child to Play, Learn, and Shine Through Badminton

In the southern regions of Senegal – Lycee Djibabo De Ziguinchor, nearly 400 km from the capital, the spirit of inclusion took flight with the federation’s philosophy—”Badminton for ALL.” Through the Shuttle Time programme, a transformative event brought together over 30 trained teachers and more than 50 children, many with intellectual disabilities, to experience the joy of badminton. Locally-made equipment like nets, shuttlecocks, and poles highlighted the resourcefulness and commitment to the sport. For a child with a physical or mental handicap, picking up a racket became a symbol of empowerment and belonging. This milestone event, supported by a partnership with Special Olympics Senegal, showcases how badminton can break barriers, unite communities, and inspire smiles in every corner of the world.

  • BWF Shuttle Time Photo of the Year 2025 Application Process will open in September 2025. More information will be available on the BWF Shuttle Time website (link).
  • A reminder: Member Associations can apply for the BWF Shuttle Time Photography Grant 2025 to support the Shuttle Time activities and provide better-quality photos for promotion purpose. These photos are allowed to be used for the BWF Shuttle Time Photo of the Year 2025 application. Detailed information will be shared to Shuttle Time National Coordinators accordingly. Application process will open in February 2025.
