Badminton continued to develop at the grassroots level in Argentina, riding on the expansion of Shuttle Time training programmes in the country.
This year, three Shuttle Time Teachers courses were delivered, and 58 local teachers certified as Shuttle Time Teachers.
The three courses conducted this year brought the total to 28, starting with the first Shuttle Time course in 2015. Overall, around 635 teachers have been trained through this programme.
After analysing the participation of the provinces in the Evita National Games over the last three years, the federation decided that there was greater need to direct the programme towards the provinces of Buenos Aires: Entre Rios and La Pampa.
The workshops were carried out at educational institutions and clubs (for example, Boca Juniors) and retirement centres. The participants responded with great enthusiasm. Among the many positive outcomes was that children began to play with their families, and even those who weren’t participating in sport took an interest in badminton.
The focus of the Argentine Badminton Federation has been on reaching regions which ar comparatively less developed. Projects are aimed at addressing children and youth of varying educational backgrounds, seeking to inculcate badminton as a lifestyle, thereby strengthening social relationships through sport.
