Expanding Badminton in Kazakhstan: Shuttle Time Initiative Aims to Develop Regional Coaches

February 17, 2025

Seeking to increase the number of badminton coaches in the regional areas of Kazakhstan, the national association is embarking on using Shuttle Time to expand badminton’s footprint across the country.

Currently, coaches are primarily interested in working in developed cities where badminton is at a relatively high level. However, the association’s main goal is to expand coaching into regions where badminton is not yet at the same level of development.

The programme will seek to target school PE teachers aged 22-55 (approximately 60 per cent male and 40 per cent female) to drive the expansion of the sport.

New schools are seen as vital to implementation of the programme. This will involve enhancing the knowledge and skills of coaches, particularly hailing from regional areas, who work with children and actively promoting badminton among students in schools.

Regional Focus

The association believes that for the overall development of badminton, it is essential to focus more on working closely with the regions and giving them greater attention. The primary target will be to engage and develop coaches from these areas, as they play a crucial role in raising the sport’s level and foster local talent. By doing so, it is expected that a stronger, more widespread badminton community will develop across the country.

Importance of Shuttle Time

Shuttle Time is seen as an excellent initiative to attract and engage coaches from regional areas. It provides a comprehensive and accessible framework for coaching, offering modern, easy-to-understand materials that make the learning process straightforward. With its user-friendly approach, the programme is an effective tool for building coaching skills and growing the sport in regions that may not yet have a strong badminton presence.
